Phonics 101

I made a discovery today. When teaching spelling words that are spelled phonetically, cutout the southern drawl, it only confuses the children!

Some examples of the way states are pronounced here in the south:
Nuhbraska
Oregun
Minnasoda
Colarada

Pleeeeaaaassse! If your kids are confused by your southern drawl that adds to words, what do you think my kids are! You are so funny! This is when you really start paying attention to how you sound we you talk. You have no idea how much energy I have to use to not sound like a hick! To me, you don't even have an accent. Your girls need to come to my house to receive some southern heritage!

Love you,
Jenn
